Part 1:
Ear Infections: Tinnitus

Ear ringing tinnitus is an ear disorder caused due to a disorder in the ear canal. Men and women over sixty years of age find that their ears are ringing and the ringing has not stopped for quite some time. This is when you need to get alarmed and visit your ear doctor. Men usually experience a more buzzing sound than women do. Ear ringing tinnitus generally arises out of the hearing difficulties people have as they grow older.

There are a number of ways in which you can tackle this problem. Some of them are included in the following list:

  • All cases of ear ringing tinnitus do not need you to go seek medical aid. Only if the ringing persists for a long time and seems as if it has become a regular affair, do you need to stay alert. Many a times it is found that ringing in an ear is just caused due to some temporary disturbance and soon goes away. This is not very serious in that it is not a disease but just a disturbance in the ear canal.
  • We live in a world that is saturated with noises of all kinds. There are about 36 million people in the world who experience ringing in their ear in some form or another. But no all this is due to a disorder. it may be that people are hearing some other sound and interpreting it as a ring. There is no need to get uselessly alarmed.
  • Wearing of ear plugs is a good way to tackle this problem. This can be especially done when exposed to harsh and loud sound that you find disturbing to your ear drums. This is merely a preventive measure to ensure that disturbance is kept out.
  • Earphones are also things you need to be wary of. It has been proven in studies that earphone when played over certain specifies sound limit can cause disturbance to the ear and therefore cause ringing. Soothe simple measure is to play music only as loud as it does not disturb your ear or till you ear does not find it jarring.
  • Any fluid or ear wax accumulated inside the ear can cause ringing noises in the ear. Make sure you keep your ears free from debris and wax accumulations. The ringing occurs in the outer ear, inner ear, middle ear and the brain.
